Oliver Tree Nickell was born on June 29, 1993, in Santa Cruz, California. The musician explored various genres throughout his career. He started releasing music under the name Tree in 2010. In 2013, he dropped his debut EP, Demons. His breakthrough came in 2016: the single When I’m Down, a collaboration with Whethan, went viral, and shortly after, Oliver signed with Atlantic Records. He officially launched his career as Oliver Tree in 2017 with the single Welcome To LA. The artist quickly became known for his distinctive look: a signature bowl cut, a purple windbreaker, red glasses, and JNCO jeans.
