I too worked at a bar where the vermouth sat for the entire two years I worked there and no telling how long before. The one regular that drank martinis doesn’t like it and no else ordered them. I didn’t know that about the wines and now I question everything we did there 😅😂

Now I’m curious about bitters, because granted I’m sure our vermouth was the same but I bartended at Red Robin and the crusty paper wrapped bitters was the same bottle the entire time

Girl, this video feels targeted cause I made that comment about Vermouth 😭 we don't anymore, but for a while we had the same few bottles of vermouth for at least 5-10 years sitting in our bar, and when I got old enough to drink and was trying stuff out, every drink made with vermouth was just the worst thing ever. I feel like I need to go on a whole new journey of discovery with FRESH vermouth lol

This would be why my very nice bottle of wine tasted like shit bc I didn’t use it for like 2 weeks after opening it. I guess I’m drinking the bottle (at home of course lol) when I open one

to be fair, it doesn't go bad in the sense that it will make you sick. it just turns into vinegar, so it tastes bad. I use my old open reds for cooking

I had a lady say it wasn't a fresh bottle. It was a cheap twist off bottle. I opened 2 bottles and she said the same thing about everyone. So I had to go to the table and open it in front of her. She was like that one I can tell is fresh.

I think this is why people hate on vermouth so much because they're so used to rancid vermouth. but let me tell you a good wet martini with fresh vermouth is delicious

Wait…my cheap wine is opened and still good tasting like DAYS to weeks later. I was told at the restaurant I worked at the the house wine is good for 30 days so that’s what I live by 😅😂
