Honestly I would say that it’s complex story whether she’s a good or a bad mother. She had her flaws which weren’t little and didn’t always react properly to things,yet she still love her kids so dearly and is ready to do literally anything for them which still makes her a somewhat both good and bad mother

I don't understand the narrative because Daeron is being raised the same way in Oldtown, and the Hightowers are all against Rhaenyra, and have been planning this for years—since Alicent was still a child. They had definitely been planning this before Aemma even passed. Daeron is being fed the same propaganda and hatred at Oldtown because the Hightowers are all a part of this plot you see it in season one when Alicent wears the green dress her family praises her

I think she first realised she failed in episode 8 of season 1 where Aegon hurt that Dayna, the servant girl and paid her to say sorry. The hug she gave and the tears in her eyes shows she was ashamed and had failed
