As a shop foreman I can confirm that oil changes are a scam. There’s no need to do so many oil changes when you can just replace the engine every 100,000 miles

As a master mechanic for over 2 decades, I can tell you, yes, changing your oil is a scam, it doesn't matter. You just have to have oil in a car and it doesn't matter what kind the cheapest will do.
