Not to mention…I’ve seen teachers stick to the policy & the admin change the grade! It happened to me when I was a teacher. The kid failed my class. Admin changed his grade.

I have always said that school only teaches your child 25% of what they need to learn. Homework is when you as a parent have to teach them the other 75%. And if you can’t you get a tutor. I’m not smart so that’s what I did.

When I was in high school the exit exam was a thing. People on honor roll couldn’t pass the test. Why? Their parents and older siblings did their work. In addition, they had good behavior and perfect attendance.

My kid was failing a class (health reasons, she had a surgery and seizures/migraines symptoms that we are still trying to figure out) and I asked her once if she wanted me to talk with the teacher to get a list of things you can do to get the grade up to passing. She declined and did it herself and spent the last month of school doing it. She got a c+ which upset her because she’s used to all A’s but I’m proud she did the work of communicating with her teacher and keeping herself accountable for the work and never once said she deserved an A. I didn’t even think of contacting the teacher to change it! Like why?!

My dad always told me and my siblings school and teachers are only there to teach you the foundation. The rest of your learning has to come from you building upon that foundation yourself.

I taught for only three years so I never progressed and grew enough to be a really good teacher, but I know a good teacher when I see it! And I know a poor admin when I see one. 😳
