@ghanalaafia: The University of Cape Coast (UCC) community has been thrown into mourning following the tragic death of 20-year-old student Innocentia Atsufui Avinu. Innocentia was a Level 200 Bachelor of Commerce (Human Resource Management) student at UCC. She was reported missing after she left her hostel room on the evening of June 10, 2026, and failed to return. According to reports from her roommate, Innocentia received a phone call around 7:00 p.m., dressed casually, and left the room. That was the last time she was seen alive. ([Ghana News Agency][1]) After friends and colleagues were unable to locate her, concerns grew and efforts were made to trace her whereabouts. On June 12, residents near Hutchland Beach at Duakor in Cape Coast discovered a body washed ashore and informed the police. Investigators later confirmed the deceased to be Innocentia Avinu. Family members, university officials, and her roommate subsequently identified her body at the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital mortuary. ([Ghana News Agency][1]) The University of Cape Coast Police and the Ghana Police Service immediately launched investigations into the circumstances surrounding her death. Preliminary examinations reportedly found no visible signs of physical assault or injury on her body. However, authorities have stressed that the exact cause of death can only be determined through a post-mortem examination. ([Ghana News Agency][1]) The incident has generated widespread grief among students, staff, family members, and the general public. Many people have called for a thorough investigation to uncover exactly what happened before Innocentia's death. The Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu, has also directed UCC authorities to work closely with the Ghana Police Service to ensure a full investigation into the case. ([Ghana Campus News][2]) Authorities have urged the public to avoid spreading unverified information and speculation while investigations continue. As of now, no official cause of death has been released, and police are awaiting the results of the post-mortem examination. ([Ghana News Agency] May her soul rest in peace. #goviral #fullstory #fyp #foryou #universityofcapecoast
