I don’t understand the concept of getting into a relationship and being suddenly unable to be available for your friends and to do fun things. I don’t get why both can’t happen.

Not to mention being excluded from activities because I don’t have a significant other. Even family events I won’t be invited to because I am single, and they think because I’m alone I wouldn’t want to go.

I had a friend who i do soooo much for and when I needed her for a simple phone convo she told me she was too busy w/ her husband and daughter. I NEVER TALKED TO HER AGAIN! b/c when I say I would do sooooo much for them when they were down it is ridiculous! I will never do that again EVER!

All my "friends " have pretty much forgotten me since the divorce. It's even worse now that I've gotten rid of fb. No relationship, no friendships. Good thing I have cats and started doing things alone.

I spent years being the wingman, the double-date guy, and the friend everyone called when they needed something. Looking back, I was doing half the work on those dates anyway. Now everyone’s married, busy, and impossible to schedule. So I started taking myself on a solo date at least once a week. Turns out peace, good food, and your own company are underrated. And while I’m enjoying the journey, I still pray that one day I’ll serendipitously meet my person. Until then, I’m going to keep living life.

I’m Always the single person. They act like I’m supposed to say when I’m talking to somebody but why would I ruin things by introducing him to them. They criticize me constantly so no way will I sabotage things like that.

One of my closest friends told me it’s on me to do all the traveling, take on all cost, and visit her bc I’m single and don’t have a “real job” (I worked 40+ hrs a week)…:so I stopped visiting her for 5 years. We are good now, but I was like “wtf is wrong with you?”

I am the only single friend within my group of friends and have been pretty much single for most of my friendships. I feel this on so many levels, but also can we talk about the friends who straight up disappear out of your life once they are relationships and then when they aren’t, they expect to pick up with you like nothing happened until their next relationship? I have several friends who I’ve had to distance myself from because of this.
