how about the opposite? how often does imaging showing ",it's not cancer" ends up being cancer?

My doctor thought it was cancer, removed it and said he was 99% sure it wasn’t cancer then called me shocked when pathology came back as cancer

My story is the opposite. I was told before surgery I only had a 10% chance it was cancer. Surgeon told my mom after surgery that he didn't see any cancer. So I thought I was fine. When I went for my check up the surgeon came in and told me that he got my pathology back and it was cancer. He should of never told my mom I didn't have cancer until he got the pathology report back. This surgeon had 30 years experience and was recommended by my sister.

I hope that there are advancements in Medcine and this does not ever happen again in the near future. it's horrible living on levothyroxin life long. I can attest to this. I have been on levothyroxin since 2006, twenty years already.

Do you do virtual consultations prior to in person appointments for someone who lives out of state? All records can be electronically sent over (labs, imaging)

My cancer spread to lymph nodes but it basically disappeared from my thyroid. Shrunk down to a pin prick. Never would've known if I didn't end up with hyperparathyroidism and calcium lvs over 13. 2 weeks post op

I had total thyroidectomy for follicular carcinoma, a 6mm malignant nodule, also went to my lymph node. After RAI treatment a whole body scan shows it's metastasised to both lungs. All my docs kept on reassuring me I was lucky because it was caught early ☹️☹️☹️

Hello! :
I had the right side of my thyroid removed back in May. The biopsy was inconclusive, which is why the suggestion was to remove it. I feel very lucky that my surgeon decided to do that because not only did he find Oncocytic thyroid cancer on the side that was removed. He also found a small tumor on the left side that turned out to be Papillary thyroid cancer.
