@lucilletravels: For World Ocean Day, we joined a community beach clean-up at Playa Cocal in Quepos, Costa Rica… and in just 2 hours, we collected nearly 1 ton of trash. What made today even more special was seeing how many people showed up to help. Kids, neighbors, volunteers, locals — dozens of people coming together for the same purpose: protecting the ocean and the beaches we all love 🤍 Seeing mountains of plastic, cans, fishing gear and waste collected from just one beach was honestly heartbreaking. Because this trash doesn’t just stay on the sand. It eventually reaches the ocean, harms marine life, damages ecosystems and impacts animals that mistake plastic for food or get trapped in it 🐢 But at the same time, today felt hopeful. It reminded me that real change starts with community. With people caring enough to show up. With small actions repeated by many people. Nearly 1 ton of trash removed in only 2 hours by a group of people who simply decided to help. Imagine the impact if more communities around the world did the same 🌎✨ Days like this make me even more grateful to be part of marine conservation and remind me that protecting the ocean isn’t only the responsibility of scientists or organizations — it belongs to all of us 🌊 #beachclean #worldoceanday #marineconservation #1ton
