@jasminedepqua: From the burning cross in Grant Park to Hung Cao joking about wanting a KKK hood with slits for his eyes, I think it's important for Asians to learn the history of the KKK and how they targeted our communities too. From the Yakima Terror, where Filipino farmworkers were beaten and driven from their homes, to Vietnamese fishermen who were threatened, terrorized, had their boats burned, crosses burned near their communities and even had an effigy of a Vietnamese fisherman hung by the KKK... San Francisco (and much of the west coast) had Jim Crow type law codes regarding Asians, The governement force interned Japanese people during world War 2. Asian were banned from immigrating to the US from 1924-1966. Asian ppl have always experienced racial discrimination in this country not just socially but on the local, state and federal level politically. Too many ppl have not learned about the battles fought for them to even be here and now that has come into question as well.

Mind you Sundown Towns weren’t only just for Black Americans but also Asians. In Michigan it’s several but Grosse Pointe is historically known as a sundown town that exclude Black and Asian people.

I remember reading up on an OLD article that Filipinos were put in Zoo cages and treated like animals for white people to visit because they seen Filipinos as creatures rather than humans. I think there’s even a video on it recorded back in the 1900s when they first arrived into the americas.

My kid experienced racial bullying from Asian American immigrant students. They were also racially teasing a Latino boy, joking Trump would send his parents back to Mexico. I reported it and was targeted by the principal. My daughter and I only wanted to have comprehensive education on racism and the KKK.

I think ppl seem to forget, when a white supremacist sides with a minority when it’s a minority on minority attack isn’t because they care. It’s because they see a chance to express their hateful ways with “reasonable” excuse.
