You don’t need to hold with vice grips. If you hit the nut with air instead of battery it will come right off/on

so.. do what this guy does, but rather than clamping the shaft directly use a rag or something to buffer between the teeth and shaft

Everyone saying it’ll ruin the shock seal has obviously forgotten about the bump stop that will be sat exactly where he gripped it. Last time I checked they don’t compress to nothing

You f'ed up by gripping the new shock with vice grips. now when that shock goes past the seal, its going to cause it to tear Into it.
