In January 1968 I had returned to the states after a year in Vietnam. I was stationed at the Presidio in San Francisco. I walked out the Presidio gate onto Lombard St. A block away there was a flatbed truck and on the back of that truck was Joan Baez singing protest songs against the war. I was standing in the crowd and I must have stood out with my short haircut. I remember we made eye contact and she smiled. I will never forget that day.

One of the greatest singer songwriters and guitarist in music history and her voice is an Angel on earth my mom turned me on to her when I was bittin ankles and she made me want to be a folk musician I made my chance for a little while now as a older man I still enjoy playing my guitar and listening to her 🙏
