I'm very split on it too, because on one hand, people who express themselves how they want. but on the other hand, I want to know why it's so important to have an exact label for everything. I looked up berrisexual, and it turns out that is actually what I am. but, idk, I feel like Bisexual is a good enough descriptor for me, because not everybody needs to know the nuances about me. that's what "getting to know somebody" is for. People don't need to know every single thing about you, just from labels. but at the same time, I legitimately don't care about other people's lives that much. just tell me what to refer to you as, and be understanding if I accidentally say the wrong thing once or twice. 🤷

I agree with everything you said. I'm always respect people's pronouns, even neopronouns, and I'll never make fun of them for choosing to use whatever makes them feel good... but I'm probably gonna roll my eyes about it once I turn away from you. At the end of the day it doesn't affect me or my life, so I'm not gonna go out of my way to tear someone down or treat them badly.

To me it’s like the metal community. Yes there are a hundred different sub genres of metal, but I’m still calling them all metal unless I’m speaking to someone who specifically understands the differences. My favorite band can be labeled as metal core, mathcore, or progressive metal. I still call them metal unless I’m speaking to someone who is into the genre. I absolutely wouldn’t be upset if someone called them metal or even rock. Why? Because they are and I don’t expect everyone to know the differences.

I mean I think u nailed it. It’s the general idea that we should all just respect eachother even if we might not all agree if at the end of the day it’s something someone is doing for themselves and got nothing to do with us. It’s ok to have a nuanced take and not everything be super cut and dry

Hey guys. Let’s take the Miriam Margolyes approach to this instead of judging an entire category of people by the image you have of them. If it makes someone happy to call them a neopronoun, why not just do it? Your opinion on their pronouns shouldn’t matter and it’s not your place to judge, but it is your opportunity to make their day a bit better by just going with it.
