I went on an engineering hackathon once on my second year of uni and it was such a mess😭 Initially there was like 80 universities participating in the first stage but there was clearly stated that only 5 best teams will get to the final stage, only one team from each university is allowed and there shouldn't be any professors with you to help. Somehow we got to the final stage, where we were competing for equipment for engineering labs for university and some cash, there wasn't much but still enough for the team of 5. Only first 3 places were to get something. Somehow there was not 5 but 7 teams in the finals and 3 of them were from the same uni.. Which is also considered the best and the most expensive in the entire country. AND ALL 3 OF THEM HAD PROFESSORS HELPING AND THERE WAS LIKE 10 PEOPLE IN EACH TEAM EVEN THO 5 WAS SUPPOSED TO BE MAX😭 Ofc administration haven't said anything to them... We were supposed to make a presentation but one of those 3 teams clearly didn't make it cus it was straight from chat gpt without any redactions done to the text.... And ofc jury gave them first, second and third places leaving other 4 teams with empty hands.. EVEN THO THEY AI GENERATED THEIR PRESENTATIONS

hackaton was meant to allow the companies involved in the program to legally steal the ideas or code.. I joined hackaton korea, they actually wanted ideas from participants, once you win/lose, that ideas (if brilliant) will be used later on by them.
