Hey, so I agree that hijab and modesty are inherently oppressive, but it is NOT true that wearing less in the heat is ideal. Many people from arid desert cultures wear robes for a reason: long, loose natural fibers are best to wear in the sun because it blocks the heat and the flowiness cools you down inside the garment.

Even in the Bible, modesty wasn't clothes, it was how one acted. I also think it's interesting that Jesus called out men who tried blaming a woman for what she wears for their stumbling. I ain't Christian or anything that is connected to the Bible, but it's crazy what how people have used it to put down women even though the verses they use are right next to one's meant to empower them.

a lot of women think that modesty will keep them safe from men. when i visited india when i was 15 i made sure to only take my cultural clothes that are mostly covered but i was still leered at by men and realized that covering yourself and becoming a part of the crown and not standing out will still not keep you safe. the problem is some men see women as an object or a thing to play around with and the clothes or her modesty won’t change much.
