They were among the first officers to enter the school and successfully stopped the shooter within minutes of arriving at the scene. Body camera footage released by the police showed them moving quickly toward the sound of gunfire, clearing rooms, advancing to the second floor, and eventually confronting the shooter. Their response has often been compared to other school shooting incidents because it was considered exceptionally fast and in line with active-shooter response protocols.
