UPDATE: Rescued 🤍 Artie may not get a forever home but today he got his very own Lamp Chop 🐑❤️‍🩹 Artie was adopted less than 72 hours ago and then quickly returned bc of separation anxiety. He had little to no time to decompress, settle in, or understand his new environment before being brought back to the shelter. One of the most common things fosters and adopters experience with shelter dogs is separation anxiety in those first few days or weeks. It is SO normal. These dogs are suddenly in a completely new environment with new people, new smells, new routines, and no understanding of what’s happening. When you leave the house, they’re confused and scared. That doesn’t make them bad dogs or undeserving of your love….it makes them overwhelmed dogs. Outside of his kennel, Artie is extremely shy and overwhelmed by the shelter environment. His tail stays tucked, he’s constantly on high alert, and all the noise and chaos clearly stress him out. But the second you step into his kennel and it’s just you and him, he becomes a COMPLETELY different dog. His tail starts wagging, he leans into you for affection, jumps up for love, and gives so many kisses. Underneath all the fear is an incredibly sweet, loving dog who just wants to feel safe. Artie is scheduled for euthanasia at the Carson Animal Shelter, Gardena CA. He didn’t deserve to be returned so quickly. Now he’s back on the euthanasia list and only has hours left to find another adopter or foster. 📍 Carson Animal Care Center, Animal ID A5769809 MONDAY-SATURDAY 11am-5pm. Walk ins welcomed.
