@yvonneonscreen: Listen up if you are aged 28 to 40 and trying to buy a home in the UK! 🇬🇧🏠 A massive new proposal called the "Citizens Advance" is being heavily backed in Parliament, and DWP ministers have confirmed that early pension access schemes are officially on the table. This could be a massive game-changer for immigrant women who are trying to get onto the UK property ladder without any family financial help ("the Bank of Mum and Dad"). Here is how the proposed scheme works: 1️⃣ The £12,500 Cash Lump Sum: If you qualify, the government will allow you to withdraw a upfront lump sum equivalent to one year of the full new State Pension (currently £12,548) to use as a house deposit or to clear high-interest debt. 2️⃣ The Trade-Off: This is NOT free money. In exchange for the cash today, you agree to postpone the date you start receiving your State Pension by one year later in life. 3️⃣ The Immigrant Catch (10-Year Rule): To prevent people from moving to the UK and immediately taking the cash, you must have built up at least 10 years of National Insurance (NI) credits or caring responsibilities in the UK to be eligible. Building a property portfolio in a new country is hard, but schemes like this show that new paths are opening up. 💬 What do you think? Would you trade working one extra year in your 60s if it meant getting £12,500 cash to buy a house right now? They might spend 10 years in parliament debating this and then roll it out on my 41st birthday

Chances are no one will be able to retire so I’d rather it now when I actually need it

Is it 10 years one after the others or can it be 10 years in total ? As I missed out one year so technically it would be 6 but I’ve worked since 2011 so I do have over 10 years

I think it’s not just for buying a house, personally I think this is a really good idea considering most of us won’t be able to retire since they keep upping the retirement age. So run me my 12.5k I don’t mind losing a year 😂 if it was up to me take off 4 years give me 50k 😂

Hobestly, if my husband and I both did this, we could pay of a big chunk of our mortgage again and be closer to being mortgage free well before we retire 🙏🏽

This is misleading. The proposal has been put forward by the Social Market Foundation (not a branch of the government). The government has made no comment on it at all as of yet. They certainly have not confirmed they are considering it.

I think if they implement this they’ll only give it to the mortgage you’re taking out and not in cash

I would do it but I wouldn’t buy a house. I’d pay my debts off, and finally do my driving lessons and get a car

Yeah the government will probably have some clause saying if you pass away we will take the 12.5 from your estate
