Taekookers have reached a new low. I know they’re used to twisting facts, rewriting timelines and bending reality whenever it doesn’t fit the narrative they desperately want to protect, but this one is honestly too much. And the timing of this sudden obsession with Jimin’s moon tattoos is not exactly difficult to understand. Jungkook has been reposting moon imagery quite a lot lately and they know perfectly well that, within BTS-related symbolism, the moon has a very obvious and long-standing association with Jimin. Jimin literally has moon phases tattooed down his back. So now, instead of simply accepting that association exists, they suddenly need to find a way, any way, to insert Taehyung into the story. And apparently the new version is: “Taehyung drew the moons Jimin has on his back.” No. He did not. And what makes this even more ridiculous is that I have already corrected this claim before, yet someone keeps bringing this up as a fact 🤦‍♀️ The artwork that inspired the extension of Jimin’s moon tattoo was created by Arizzo Studios. It was a fan art. Taehyung did not design it, he did not draw it, and he was not the artist behind those moon phases. What Taehyung did was show the fan art to Jimin. And the documented sequence matters here. Jimin already had a moon tattoo. Then Arizzo Studios created a fan art depicting additional lunar phases running down his back. Taehyung came across that artwork and showed it to Jimin. Jimin liked the idea and eventually chose to incorporate that concept into his own tattoo. How exactly does that become “Taehyung drew Jimin’s moons”? The only way you arrive at that conclusion is by deliberately removing the actual artist from the story and upgrading Taehyung’s role from “the person who showed him a picture” to “the person who created the design.” And why would anyone suddenly need to do that now? Well, perhaps because Jungkook repeatedly posting moon imagery while Jimin is literally walking around with moon phases tattooed on his body creates an association some people would rather not acknowledge. So suddenly we get these incredible mental gymnastics: Jungkook posts the moon → people (of course) associate it with Jimin → panic → “WAIT, TAEHYUNG DREW THOSE MOONS, SO ACTUALLY JUNGKOOK RPOSTING THE MOON CAN REPRESENT TAEHYUNG TOO.” What Jungkook personally means when he reposts a moon is something none of us can prove unless he says it himself. I can interpret the timing and symbolism however I want, and you are free to disagree. But what you are NOT free to do is rewrite documented facts just because you need your preferred interpretation to work. Imagine erasing an actual artist from their own creation just because you need Taehyung to somehow become part of Jungkook’s moon symbolism. Showing someone a painting doesn’t make you the painter. Showing someone a tattoo reference doesn’t make you the tattoo designer. And showing Jimin Arizzo Studios’ fan art certainly does not magically make the moon a Taehyung symbol every time Jungkook posts one. You can dislike the Jimin association. You can roll your eyes at it. You can say Jungkook simply likes astronomy. You can say he saw a pretty moon and reposted it without thinking about anyone at all. Fine. Those are interpretations. But apparently even that isn’t enough anymore. Now the documented history itself has to be modified so that Taehyung can be inserted into it. And that, to me, says much more about how uncomfortable the existing association makes some people than Jungkook’s reposts ever could. Because if the moon truly meant absolutely nothing to you, there would be no need to work this hard to claim it for Taehyung.
