The Mystery of Your Pelvic Floor! ✨🧘‍♀️ 💖 I used to think my body was broken when my prenatal instructor would say, “contract your pelvic floor,” and I’d be like… am I even doing anything? 😅 Let’s talk about proprioception—that incredible ability your body has to sense where it is in space. When this system gets disrupted, it can feel like you can’t “find” your pelvic floor anymore. But guess what? Your pelvic floor has proprioception too! 🤯 When proprioception goes awry, you might experience: ➡️ Difficulty locating your pelvic floor during exercises ➡️ Leaks because your pelvic floor doesn’t respond quickly enough ➡️ A disconnection from this crucial part of your body ➡️ Trouble coordinating pelvic floor contractions with your breath ➡️ Uncertainty if you’re contracting or relaxing these muscles ➡️ Pain during penetration because you can’t figure out how to RELEASE your pelvic floor So, what disrupts pelvic floor proprioception? ➡️ Childbirth trauma or surgical interventions ➡️ Chronic pain or dysfunction ➡️ Not using these muscles for extended periods ➡️ Poor posture that keeps them in suboptimal positions But here’s the good news: You can retrain your pelvic floor! 🙌 By teaching your body to reconnect with this area through specific exercises and mindful movement, you can regain that awareness and control. That’s why I focus so much on proprioception work in my sessions. You simply can’t train what you can’t feel! ✨ Pro Tip: Using gravity to assist in easing pressure on a weakened pelvic floor, especially when dealing with prolapse, can be super helpful! I love working with a soft foam roller for that tactile feedback as you perform double leg circles 💬 Are you ready for a challenge? Comment ‘challenge’ below, and I’ll share exactly what you need to do to improve proprioception and start feeling your pelvic floor again! 👇🏻 Our next 8-week challenge kicks off on May 1st—mark your calendars so you don’t miss out! 📅 Tag a friend who needs this info and let’s support each other on this journey! 💕 #PelvicFloor #PelvicFloorHealth #Proprioception #MindfulMovement #PelvicFloorRehab Have you tried a foam roller for support and feedback?
