It’s like having your bones forcibly bonded to someone else’s bones and then being on a level of intelligence and complete physical control of your entire body that you have to physically exist like that against your own will while the other person (or people) are alive as well thereby causing them to form wether they want to or not.

She thought they were dead after the war. She thought that she wouldn't see them again. She could've never imagined being forcefully fused. But in that moment she knew the cluster was half of her problem, Homeworld didn't know/forbade different types of Gems to fuse, Garnet was the fusion that set everything off. In that moment she knew the fault was on her behalf.

its sick thinking that the diamonds got the idea of fusion experiments from seeing how the crystal gems or at least garnet fusing with each other, and made it a mockery of what fusion was meant to be

They did this to show Rose what happened to Garnet, as a twisted act of revenge against the Crystal Gems, trying to break her emotionally by forcing her to witness something unnatural and unbearable. It reflects how they view fusion between two different Gems not as something beautiful or meaningful, but as something wrong, distorted, and punishable. What was meant to be a bond of unity is instead portrayed as a nightmare, where the idea of fusion is violated and turned into a horrifying symbol meant to scare and destroy hope. This was done to hurt Rose on a psychological level, making her question everything she believes in, especially the existence and meaning of the Crystal Gems.
