I’m reading that the same gardens used to have one that was 47ft across, with as many as 3,000 flowers! It’s somewhat surprising that as diverse and widely distributed as Orchidae is, that the family hasn’t produced more species with large forms. Maybe early adaptation to grow as epiphytes just made it unnecessary?
