Replying to @Ajumma of all the dumplings The tension between Black and Asian communities wasn’t organic. It was engineered. Through redlining, selective immigration policy, and the model minority myth white supremacy built a buffer class and handed anti-Blackness to people who were also being oppressed. This is the history nobody’s teaching in these ongoing online discussions. There is an obvious issue between our communities that needs to be discussed, but this won’t happen until the Asian community looks within to actually acknowledge their positioning in America and the history of how that was done to spite Black people, and at the behest of Black people. Black people treat people how they treat us. We have a healthy distrust and distancing from communities that practice and anti-blackness because we can spot racism and antiblackness anywhere.
