AS Somebody who MIA but also watch jobless reincarnation, Lord of the mysteries and are-Re-zero in a non-casual fashion…. Made in abyss is really unique and weird in the sense that you cannot compare its world building to other stories mainly because lacks complex politics or a wide range of important characters and complex societal dynamics, not to be confused with a sensitive social structures in the story, which I say are highly complex as well as their relationships, but they are not However, its expansion on the world‘s megafuna, ecosystems, and larger environment is significantly more robust than the others…. Like Tukushi cares about the creatures and how they interact with each other and Because most people don’t interact with nature nearly as personally as society. made in abyss wins on perceived complexity “ wow I can’t believe the author thought of that for the environment, their world” 😭 yeah and you don’t even think about the animals in the woods of course, this looks amazing Made in abyss is a ☝️trick pony, but that one trick it does is so exceptionally well that is incredibly difficult to argue with. You can’t complain about made in Abyss’s politics because the story is so clear clearly is not about the politics of the world.😭 you cannot complain about character development because it’s obvious that the author isn’t trying to make deep complex characters he just needs vessels for exploring an idea and the world that’s purpose they serve. Re-Zero not called “Lagunita” jobless reincarnation isn’t called that “Roana kingdom of the pervert” the mysteries is not called “mythic London” the names of their stories, relate to specific people and not the world. Made in abyss who is one of my favorite stories and it takes your mind hostage by (1) knowing that you do not think about your nature on a deep level so even basic implementations like food chains will look thought out an extensive to you (2) The story has a central simple focus making continuity easy (3) unlike many characters driven stories it ignores the larger world… even stories like Vinland, Saga, and berserk still have complex world politics written in but Not MIA.
