I’m also in Paris at the moment. But I had weight loss surgery and no one has ever had an issue with me not eating much. I just eat what I can. They probably don’t even care - but are concerned you didn’t like it.

So I'd say that in the US you'd say: everything alright? Where in certain European countries it's more focused on the food and or the situation. It's fine to ask for a doggy bag and it's fine to give honest feedback. That's genuinely why we ask. And if your plate is not empty we worry we've done something. (coming from a Dutchie)

My wife and I I went to Europe and when we ordered food, they always said “that’s way too much food” 🤣 I looked at them and said “honey we are from America trust and believe this food will not leave this table
