@masud_znz: The Acting Minister of Trade and Industrial Development, @shariffashariff, has stated that the establishment of a free port will help strengthen Zanzibar's trade competitiveness in regional and international markets, alongside increasing employment and stimulating economic growth. Shariff made these remarks today during a House of Representatives session while responding to a question from the Representative for Tumbe Constituency, Mmanga Mohammed Hemed. The representative had questioned the steps being taken by the Government to tackle unfair competition resulting from imported goods. He mentioned that the Government has put in place various strategies to turn Zanzibar into a commercial hub. This includes the plan to build an integrated port in Mangapwani and declaring those areas as a free port in order to enhance the trade of goods entering and leaving Zanzibar toward regional and international markets. Furthermore, he stated that the Government continues to strengthen domestic production through the construction of industries, as well as empowering traders and entrepreneurs to participate in trade fairs and receive training on packaging, branding, and product quality standards. #zanzibar #tanzania #freeport #dpworld
