Uncontrolled immigration was always going to be toxic, because poor South African 50 million of them are confined to 13% of land while 4% of the population controls 87% . immigrants don't go into security estates where the upper class stay, instead the influx is to that already congested space of survival , which is already highly contested. Elites exploit the poor emigrants by deliberately displacing the South Africans. while South Africans are still fighting for their land, so they see immigrants influx as a partten which occurred before. it is a fallacy to call poor south africans who are fighting for survival xenophobic, because that means the poor must fold their arms, while illegal immigrants are busy fighting for survival. this is class struggle, not a moral issue as elites are trying to distort.
