Antifa is an ideology not an organization; there is no centralized leadership like most terrorist organizations. Yet Trump is quoted saying they are “insurrectionists”, “carrying out a campaign of violence.” But according to a 2020 Congressional Research Service Report, Antifa is a “decentralized movement without a clear structure, command hierarchy or leader.” There is no funding, publication, nor headquarters. Even Christopher Wray, an ex Trump-appointed FBI director claimed Antifa was an “ideology, not an organization” Antifascism has existed as long as fascism has. Antifa is an ideology attempting to deny fascists any opportunity at advancing their oppressive politics. Antifa believes in free speech but society must not continue to tolerate fascist hate-speech that encourages violence. Fascist movements are obviously historically well-documented, Antifa is a movement to stop modern-day fascism before it even starts. Now that fascist politics have become mainstream in the US, one of their goals is to demonize Antifa. But who are the bad guys? Some people dressed in black protesting and causing property damage after being provoked or the ones stripping society of their constitutional rights, terrorizing migrants, green-card holders, and citizens alike; murdering, while unidentified, using brutality with complete immunity.
