I find myself sitting in quiet contemplation, asking… who were we, truly? I’ve often heard it said that witches are the ones who escaped the burning and I believe it, something in my bones wants to dig deeper into that story. The more I feel into it, the more I know the ones they burned were not the witches at all… but the women who overall posed a threat to new structures. Who were the real witches? Were they hidden deeper in the forests, oracles in the bloodlines, in the quiet knowing passed from mother to daughter without words? Were they the ones who knew when to be seen… and when to disappear? The Witch of Endor is often named first, but even she feels like a fragment, an oracle, a seer, a keeper of sight. Not a beginning, but a thread in something far more ancient. There was a time when everyone lived in rhythm with the earth. When what we now call “pagan” was simply life. Folk magick was not a label it was breath, it was instinct, it was the way. And then… something was severed. Histories were rewritten. Stories distorted. Words like “witch” reshaped into something fearful, something to hunt, something to destroy. All women who held on to natural ways of herbalism, healer, midwife became the witch.. but they weren’t the witch. Witches were originally European women so yes they practiced pagan folk magick but a real witches magick was liminal. And I can’t help but feel… that erasure was intentional. Because if we truly remembered how deeply woven this knowing was into humanity, we might remember something powerful. We might remember ourselves. So I sit with the question, not needing an answer… just allowing the mystery to speak: What if being a witch isn’t about what survived the flames… but what was hidden so it could never be extinguished? Is it that draw, that pull that will not let us turn away.. Practical Magick Retreat this fall is happening because the times in which we now live are a modern mirror of something ancient we will never have the answers to.. We know who we are, the ones who are here for justice for not only the ones they burned but for the title they demonized. #witchesoftiktok #witch #witchcraft #witchtok #witches
