I hope you build a bigger platform for your community. Taking accountability is the best thing anyone can do for themselves; it's what leads to growth. I totally see what you mean about parents influencing the idea by allowing their child to think they don't have to take accountability. I see it among “bad people” (a group I believe we should hold more accountable to their name), common among people who are too selfish to see their kids grow up to have a better reality. Unfortunately, I do believe this mindset has accumulated heavily in the American black community because of slavery. I hurt for your community, when I still see debates on “whether or not black people are struggling from racism,” when it's just not the conversations that are needed. What you're talking about is what we need to ensure all subcultures in our big, diverse American culture have their needs met.

i’d like to point back to the post segregation era when the black church was at its peak. that was the social construct that created strong well-behaved black men and women

Absolutely holding your children accountable, repercussions for breaking rules that will later become criminal. School discipline definitely. No respect for authority. Ignoring small things like cursing , constantly talking back at home or to authority. Children not having a curfew, not knowing where your children are at or who their friends are or their friends parents, no structure. Letting things like lying, stealing, bullying slide. Focusing on buying designer shoes and clothes instead of focusing on their education, character and their feelings. Not giving your children morals.
