The way social workers can bear the weight of humanity at its darkest and most hopeless and stand side by side with those fighting their way through to to other side is one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever had the privilege of witnessing. My mom was a social worker for 35 years. Dedicated her life to service and would always say she got so much back. Over the years I saw her work in mental health, substance abuse and then hospice. There really aren’t words to describe what you do for people, but from the absolute depths of my being, thank you.

I love my clients. Idc if that’s unprofessional. They’ve changed my life just as much as I’ve changed theirs. 💗

As a recovering addict trynna get clean & having j graduated nursing school, It’s my absolute dream to work for an opioid use disorder treatment clinic or at a substance use rehab center. Fellow Addicts are my people & I have to help my people. To anybody struggling with drug use currently or who did in the past, I see you, I believe in you, & you’ve totally got this. The drugs’ll never love you, but I will. We’re gonna make it 🫶 stay safe yall

This was quietly handed to me by a client at my first job who wasn’t always the most forthcoming with emotions. It means the world and has traveled with me to every desk I’ve sat at ever since.

My momma did rehab work as a nurse, the stories she told, people are sooooo much more than their addictions and troubles in life. They are someone’s baby. Thank you to all the people who help and care for those who’ve fallen off their path, they need help to find the trail again 💛 hoping everyone in this situation finds their trail and life again.

Also dealing with a lot of substance abuse at my internship, one of the workers there reiterated something so simple to me. Drugs work 100% of the time, coping mechanisms work about 60%.. thought it made the work make more sense and encouraged better attitudes on my end (as a baby sw). 🥰🥰

Working in substance abuse with stigma and 0 prior experience changed my life. Being a safe person for someone in recovery is the most fulfilled I’ve felt professionally!
