@time: Nashville-based rock band Sons of Legion started blowing up last year—but amongst newfound success, frontman Adam McInnis kept seeing videos of himself doing and saying things he's never done. Romance scams using famous artists as cover aren't a new phenomenon, but AI is supercharging them to new heights. TIME reporter Andrew Chow interviewed McInnis about the band's experience dealing with fake versions of the band scamming their fans and what it means that AI is now in the music business.
