Try a Toyota Forklift dealer sometime. I called about a thermostat for a 2Z 6 cylinder diesel. $110 plus $16 for the the gasket. I bought the genuine toyota part online delivered to my door for $36.00 and $26.00 of that was shipping.

I took my daughter's 2014 Camry in. Tried to charge $1,800 for a set of cheap tires with an alignment. $56 for a $12 air filter 🤣🤣

All I wanted was a set of Toyota wiper blades. I called a local dealer and his first question was ‘What’s the VIN?’ Not which trim or year of the vehicle. Gimme a break….🙄

I just bought new Rotors for my old Subaru WRX.. I wanted Brembo Prime rotors so I looked up the actual part number from the Brembo site. The same rotor fits my WRX and the LEGACY from certain years. The WRX price was 25% higher than what was priced for the Legacy! - For the exact same part! So, I obviously bought the parts listed as fitment for the Legacy.. I installed all the parts myself and all parts fit perfectly. Saved myself the WRX TAX! lol

When it comes to retail pricing the manufacturers allow dealers to sell at whatever markup they want. If you’re a service repair shop or body shop they’ll quote MSRP. Some service shops will quote OEM prices and then use aftermarket cheaper priced parts on the repair.

My experience has been prices overly inflated, over price.

I would bet the lower prices are at locally owned dealerships. The higher priced are at dealerships owned by huge auto groups that are only interested in separating you from your money. Oil change at my local dealer is $284 . Owned by Berkshire Hathaway.

Call about labor on installing those parts. It should not be over $50 an hour. That’s plenty of profit.
