I’ve been writing “lose weight” on my New Year’s resolution list for as long as I can remember. But in January 2022 I wrote something different. Rather than making a goal to lose weight, I made a goal to gain health. That mindset shift was the start of my journey to losing over 200lbs. I didn’t start my journey right at the new year, it took a horrible experience at Disneyland in March 2022 for me to finally start making sustainable changes. But having the mindset that gaining health was more important to me than losing weight is what carried me through my journey. Because sometimes you can be doing all the “right” things and still not see the scale go down. It feels like it makes sense to give up if we’re not seeing the results we wanted in the time we wanted them in. But if our goal is to gain health throughout the rest of our life, there is no deadline. We keep going because any beneficial and healthy choice we make is bringing us closer to that future whether the scale is reflecting that or not. The difference between gaining health and losing weight is the same difference between changing our life and changing our body. We can change our body with a quick fix diet. But is that really all we want? Or do we want to change our life? 💜 #healthjourney #naturalweightloss
