This happened to my brother. His gf got into a school in portland. He stayed in california. they did long distance. he visited her every other weekend for 3 years. he helped pay for her books, her rent, her food so she should study full time. They got married last year in their 30's. she moved back to california and they now live together in his apt while they save for a home :,)
