Will they hold up to being dropped multiple times? With out a tight fit or locking mechanism it would be next to useless for Olympic weightlifting. But probably great for regular gyms and powerlifting!

How expensive are they vs a regular barbell and how long does the mechanism last? Super cool idea but not a problem I’d pay a lot of money to solve. Probably great for luxury gyms!

Depending on the width of the plates many gyms will have a bit of slop with those collars no matter what you do because the spacing is at set increments. Also, those will be an absolute b**** to adjust after a year of wear and tear, especially considering how small they are/no mechanical advantage to moving them. Gonna jam very fast.
