I still think even MENTIONING an “alt ending” is a tell, but especially the emphasis on “this.” — They are CLEARLY filming the ending we saw in the show. Saying “THIS is THE alt ending” would indicate there is AN ALT ENDING at all, as in, something they all clearly have discussed and know about, therefore the joke about them hugging actually lands/makes sense to them. If there were only ever one ending planned and discussed, they’d say “this is AN alt ending” not “THE alt ending” as in THE ONE THEY MOST LIKELY ALREADY PLANNED AND WERE ALSO GOING TO FILM. In the last adventure documentary, there's a scene where they show Jamie. As vecna, go up to the storyboard and studying it like he's deciding what he wants to change... and then he waves his right hand(while his keeping eyes on the storyboard) to the right of him, where some crew members understanding then he waves his left hand at the camera, crew in the camera like he was putting a spell on the crew. The cameraman and us.. he does it real conspicuously, and nobody acknowledges it in the documentary.
