Argue with the wall basically queer ships in every circumstance over hetero ships in the genshin fandom. You will NEVER find dynamics deeper than you will same sex, and 9/10 there’s a good chance that the het ships don’t even maintain a relationship at all when we revisit the nation— it’s ONLY the queer ones.

Hetero ships can lean on established dynamics and the assumption of attraction. Queer ships usually don’t have that luxury, so the writer has to put more effort into crafting a well-written and believable romance. I tend to be critical of romance stories, but I find myself more often enjoying queer romance because they need to be better to be successful. I also think that this is why romance in kids media tends to be successful, because they also can’t rely as much on assumed attraction.

Straight ships usually start off as “a boy and a girl in relatively close proximity” and move from there, whereas queer ships have a much stronger basis for the relationship (catradora for example)

alternatively, straight relationships have already gone through the motions. incredibly casual and mostly the same. and when people try doing something different with it it's just something else in another font. like what's with the ice skater x hockey player forbidden love thing. why is there so much of that 😭

that's why all the bromance in shonen anime/manga have all the yaoi ships bc the romance was barely there in some of them. there was only one straight couple in haikyuu

i think it’s because a lot of queer ships already have a strong foundation of friendship. i feel as if though straight ships focus on a romance that feels fleeting the moment it starts, but with queer ships there’s a deep, pre-existing connection of friendship. straight ships dumbed down to romance where queer ships expand to romance.

Recently, het relationships have been lacking the actual chemistry and deep bonds needed for them to feel like a romance. Queer ships just have so much more emotion behind them, like actual emotion, not forced or random moments.

the writers of heterosexual relationships have began to make it more obvious they think a relationship is a transaction (a "woman" role and a "masuline" role benefitting each other) so the romance feels less deep than queer romance

I've noticed that a LOT of queer ships tend to be "Saving (character) from their abusive straight relationship" too and I feel like that definitely doesn't help

My take is also that it’s not fetishization for lgbt+ people to like gay ships *because* they’re gay, either. That might sound contradictory, but fetishization is specifically dehumanizing and objectifying someone on the basis of something like sexuality, so is more typically done by the privileged group (here, straight people) rather than the group being ostracized themselves, and because, when straight ships are still way more common and LGBT+ representation rare, of course we’re going to be excited about stories about people like us! Like yes I am more likely to read a fantasy book where two women fall in love than one where the love interest is a man, but that’s because I am a LESBIAN!!!!
