CreamySpaghetti :
Not shocking. The cap thing is more convenient, the candy is in a lot of our grocery stores as well, a lot of people in the US take their shoes off when going inside.

in some places in the U.S., we have state/local monopolies on alcohol too. in my county, all alcoholic spirits must be sold through government owned liquor stores

The taking off shoes, i feel like is pretty common here. At least it’s something that I’ve seen in multiple places I’ve been to and I do it in my own home.

the alcohol thing depends on where you live. I grew up in a state where all liquor was sold by state controlled store but beer and wine was available everywhere.

I grew up in Pennsylvania, our liquor stores are run by the commonwealth. I prefer it that way, I don't have to look at hard alcohol in grocery stores.
