Hot take from someone who’s hypermobile and has pots, it’s easier to practice good form and not end up hurting yourself on the machines. It isolates things a lil more and allows me to work out more safely.

I’ve returned to the barbell - eventually give up and acknowledged that I was too short for the machine in our gym - it wasn’t hitting my glutes just my back and hamstring. Four weeks back using the barbell and I can see growth

if you move up on the bench so it sits under your should blades and stop sliding down when you lower your hips, relax your shoulders, tuck ya chin and engage and pull in your core

It’s the opposite for me. I started on barbell & now upgraded to the machine. When I first started the machine, I couldn’t move as much weight as with the barbell
