@manchesternews: 30 years ago today, the IRA exploded a huge 3,300lb bomb in the middle of Manchester city centre. It was the middle of Euro '96, and football fans were flocking into Manchester to watch the England v Scotland game in bars alongside Saturday shoppers and workers. More than 200 people were injured - but miraculously nobody was killed. #news #manchester #manchestereveningnews
whys the title not 'the ira bombed manchester' why so vague

“Miraculously” they phoned in the warning specifically to avoid deaths, nothing miraculous about it.

we lost some character in Manchester afterwards. the full two level market, the underground market, the corn exchange was an amazing place previously with all its little oddity shops and the coffee shop in the lower level.
I miss all that!

And no doubt if this was now the likes of the Green Party and Corbyn would be defending this.

I was driving down Deansgate that morning. The police ushered everyone down the side of Kendals and on to Blackfriars road. The boom shook our car from streets away

I worked in the royal exchange our offices were on the corner of cross street and market street. We had just crossed the road on Parsonage when the bomb exploded and all the glass from the building fell to the ground around us. I froze and was grabbed by a police officer and told to run down Blackfriars street away from it. To this day loud bangs still take me right back to that day
