@dramoakohene: Following this morning’s emergency meeting on flood prevention, I joined officials from the affected Assemblies, KNUST and the Spatial Planning Department to inspect several critical flood-prone areas. Our assessment confirmed the alarming encroachment on waterways and riverbanks through unauthorized developments and land filling activities. These actions obstruct the natural flow of water, increase the risk of flooding, and endanger lives and property. We will not relent in enforcing planning regulations and taking the necessary steps to protect our communities. Development must be responsible, lawful, and environmentally sustainable. Let this serve as a reminder that building in waterways is not only illegal, it is a direct threat to public safety. Together, we must preserve our waterways and safeguard our communities from preventable disasters.
