Only if insurance companies would pay for it, most insurance companies won’t pay for it. I’ve had four back fusion because my insurance will not cover it. That’s Blue Cross Blue Shield Federal.

I had my L4-L5 disc replaced 4 months ago. Best decision ever made! I didn’t have a choice, my disc was obliterated per my MRI notes. My vertebrae were bone to bone. I will be 40 in July, I’ve had multiple injuries to my back while I was in the military. In 5-10 years I will need my L5-S1 replaced and a total joint replacement. My facet joint is fractured (an old fracture) and the tissue between that joint is bad. My Dr just wrapped up the trial for total joint replacement. Not sure what all that entails. Went through my work insurance and it was approved. VA has denied my back claim 🤣🤣🤣 round 2 here we come! Dr. Jorgensen in San Antonio is my ortho surgeon. He’s amazing!

If you get this surgery the Dr opens you up though you abdominal cavity from belly button passed the public bone this is the exact discs I had and it’s very painful long recovery.

How long can they last? I’ll probably need a fusion at my L5/S1 some day but I’d prefer a replacement but I’m only 53

Mine is fused and if I could go back I would never have had it done. Worst experience ever and still suffering from the pain 6 years later. MRI machine right out of surgery and couldn’t move legs.

My insurance did approve it, my neck need it. I was going to do one on my lower back. However, I waited to long. By the time i was ready for surgery, I needed a fusion, because my bones had broke. So with my neck I had been keeping an eye on it. So much better recovering, than the fusion!! If you can do it before a fusion. I recommend it!

I got me two, c5-c6, and c6-c7. Tomorrow will mark 1 week, I am going on 2 days without pain meds. The worst part is the brace while bone and disc do their thing!

my surgeon told me that it would be better to drill part of my hip bome instead of a fuse disc and it would adapt better and i did and its been w5 uears and im as good as i can be
