I’m not sure that man understands how subtext works. So the only way he’d accept that it is political is if Luffy said straight up ‘I’m at war with the world government?’ Thats not how narrative storytelling works. Also does he not consider Luffy at war with the World Government during Marineford when his brother dies?

“Show dont tell” is one of the first things you learn as a writer I hate the take where you have to find a literal statement it to be cannon in the story especially most of it will always be up for interpretation especially manga/visual novels
