this is a common misconception. In Ga the use of force statue requires LEO to look at the totality of circumstances. so if I'm leaving a restaurant with my wife and four larger men attempt to assault me, I'm justified in using deadly force to protect my wife and myself. if I'm 5' 2" 110lbs and a 6'6" 320 lb man attempts to assault me and I fear he means me serious bodily harm, I'm justified in using deadly force.....

In a deadly force case the defense has to prove subject's life is in life danger. Most cases are very hard to prove especially if one is armed and one is not.
