the binge structure of watching tv has given people too much instant gratification and no one has the patience to sit back and watch a story play out, like louis said let the tale seduce you!! people are making way too definitive opinions two episodes into a show lol

I think people forget the fact that when anne rice was writting the first book she was dealing with the recent death of her daughter and was pouring that pain into Louie and the story as a whole. when she wrote The vampire Lastate and queen the Damned she was a very better head space which allowed her to write Brat Prince we all know and love. There is a very big tone difference between the books because of that which had carried over to the shows.

Listen. They’re different books. Told from different points of perspective and I think what is transcendent about the show is that they are directly acknowledging that these stories are all told from different perspectives IN THE CANON. There are ZERO reliable narrators.

it's hilarious how new fans are annoyed at the show when the difference between IWTV and TVL's books is equally as jarring. Believe me, fledglings, Lestat has alwaya been the crashout chaotic diva you're seeing

Both show and book Louis are incredibly introspective people, who spend a long time reading and reflecting about their existence, so of course their narration is well structured, philosophical and even poetic sometimes. Lestat is nothing like this, which is why his narration is completely different. one of my biggest complaint is how cheap it looks... s2 and especially s1 looked gorgeous and there was a lot of attention to little details and the character's accent to make it as immersive as possible

i think the most valid criticisms ive seen are 1. the wigs are bad and 2. the pacing could be better on flashbacks. and while those 2 things are not that big of a deal for me i get it, however jumping from that to "the writing is bad, the directing is bad, everything looks cheap" thats just not true? idk if its a matter of ppl regarding the period drama part as more elegant therefore better? but the directing and editing particularly in present time where we're spending more time is really really good but i don't know if it gets lost bcs its in modern times and we're in very "common" "dirty" places it automatically makes it less or cheaper to some?

tbh theres always a subsect of fans who will never be happy when a major change is made to a tv show. Im of the opinion that provided the writing is of the same quality (which so far it is, even if the tone is different) i will enjoy it. Having the opportunity to live these characters through each others eyes instead of from some omnipotent tv writers perspective is so interesting!!! The tonal shift is so cool!!

Also Interview Of The Vampire was through Louis’s version of Lestat. Which if we recall there’s literally parts of the show where we see Louis realize that hey, maybe his interpretation of certain events wasn’t 100% accurate. Thats literally why at one point he tells Daniel maybe he should be interviewing Lestat instead 🤦♀️

That’s my thing. Lestat is completely different from Louis. I prefer Louis’ narration style but Lestat’s fits him perfectly.

Adding to the different perspectives, lestat even goes as far to correct the mistakes Louie when we made the description of him. It’s meant to be chaotic it’s meant to be a bit whack. BECAUSE THATS LESTAT, Louie in the state are very different similar in ways.considering I’m gonna get the storyline retold in a way, it is going to be interesting on the definition of Louie we will get. Claudia is my favourite character in the whole series i’m so excited to see how she will be singing as wells
