@qingfibre: Granny Squares are a staple of crochet, but there are more possibilities than you might think... This is spiral illusion granny square is made from Baby Teddy in Drift and Awoken, and is based on one I saw a picture of online years ago, but was never able to find a pattern for. This is my version that I came up with - try it if you dare! 😉 R1: Start with a magic ring in colour a, ch1 & SCx6 into the ring. Pull tight & join to the first stitch with a sl-st. R2: ch1 & work 2SC in each stitch around. Join with sl-st. R3: change to colour b & ch1, (SC, HDC, DC, ch2) x4 around. Join with sl-st. **Cut your yarn - from here you will need to rejoin your yarn every row into one of your corner ch2 spaces, alternating colours!!** R4: ch1, (SCx2 into ch2 space. HDC, DCx2, ch2) x4 around. Join with sl-st & cut your yarn. R5: rejoin to ch2 space & ch1, (SCx2 into ch2 space. HDCx2, DCx2, HTC, ch2) x4 around. Join with sl-st & cut yarn. R6: rejoin to ch2 space & ch1, (SCx2 into ch2 space. HDC x2, DCx2, HTCx2, TC, ch2) x4 around. Join with sl-st & cut yarn. R7: rejoin to ch2 space & ch1, (SCx2 into ch2 space, SC, HDC x2, DCx2, HTCx2, TCx2, ch2) x4 around. Join with sl-st but don't cut your yarn! R8: change to colour a, ch1 & SC in each stitch around + work 2SC in each chain of all corner ch2 stitches.
