from someone who hasn't read the books but is completely & utterly obsessed with this movie.... I have a theory on why there is so much hate for this movie. those who read the books first can't/won't appreciate this movie because so much was changed or cut out. rightfully so to be upset. but for those of us who didn't read the books first, this movie is a masterpiece. From the music, to Aaliyah, & yes even Lestat himself. this movie should be ranked higher than it is, but the book fans won't let it happen. in my opinion, this Lestat is better than Tom Cruise Lestat. TBH when I was a kid I never realized they were supposed to be the same character because they were completely different. Tom's is cruel & scary, while this one is intriguing & draws you in.

This lestat haunted my dreams as a young goth. The new one adds deapth and a certain swagger. They are both good. To me, the queen on the damned can never be topped because of Akasha. No one will ever surpass her. Just as Brandon Lee will forever be the one and only crow.
