@ٌ:The World Cup is a global message and an opportunity for nations to tell their stories: The anthem "Flower of Scotland" recounts the story of the Scots' victory over the army of King Edward II of England at the Battle of Bannockburn in 1314. "Flower of Scotland" refers to the brave young men and women of Scotland who died in wars defending their country. It is not Scotland's official national anthem, as that is the anthem of the United Kingdom, but it began as a sentimental folk song expressing love for the land. Some of the lyrics translate as: "O Flower of Scotland, when shall we see again the like of you, who fought and died for your hills and small valleys, who stood against Edward's arrogant army, and sent him home, to think again." Those days are gone, and in the past they should remain, but we can still rise up now, and be the nation that stood up to him, Edward the Great’s army, and sent him home, to think long and hard.
