My biological dad lives in GA with his new family and rarely tries to contact me. I don’t have a good relationship with my mom or stepdad bc of some stuff that happened when I was in HS. It’s hard to be out here relying completely on yourself and your partner for guidance. I’m happiest in this position, but I still grieve what could’ve been. It’s hard not having parents. I get it.

I gave up my dad when I was 20 and didn’t talk to him for 35 years. Spoke to him a few times right before he died. Making the right decisions are usually the hardest. And putting yourself first can be lonely in the beginning. Trust yourself. It’ll get better with time. Family does not equal blood.
